At-home LED light therapy masks have been gaining popularity with beauty editors and celebrities, with the likes of Lisa Snowdon, Victoria Beckham and Frankie Bridge all known to use the devices. However, like many a-lister loved skincare solutions, they often don’t come cheap, with brands like Currentbody and Shark costing upwards of £250.

However, BeautyPro offers a more affordable option with their Photon LED Light Therapy Facial Mask , coming in at £195. And thanks to a Black Friday weekend deal, shoppers can now get it even cheaper.

At Boots, the mask has been slashed to £126.75 for a limited time . Not only does this price cut mean you save £68.25, but the deal also includes £10 worth of Boots points for every £60 spent on electrical beauty. So if you’re getting £20 back in advantage card points, the cost of the mask actually works out at £106.75.

This device boasts five different light therapy modes designed to target a wide range of skin concerns. Its 432 LEDs deliver high-density, high-intensity light energy that promotes collagen production, tackles acne, refines pores, and brightens the skin.

The mask is described as a ‘non-invasive, chemical-free, painless and safe method of skincare conditioning’, with the light activating deep cells under the skin by using specific wavelengths. According to the brand: “The light enters the skin and is turned into intracellular energy. This kickstarts a photochemical and enzymatic reaction that triggers glycogen and protein production. This promotes cell metabolism and collagen regeneration to provide benefits in anti-ageing, acne control and skin brightening.”

After being desperate to give LED light therapy a go, but not wanting to pay expensive salon prices, I finally incorporated the BeautyPro mask into my own routine a few weeks ago - and I’ve already seen some improvements.

The mask is really easy to set up and start using straight from the box. It has adjustable velcro ear straps so you can get the perfect fit, as well as inserts which help protect your sensitive eyes from the brightness. It’s a really lightweight device and is portable , too, so I can wear it while completing tasks around the house without feeling weighed down - though I did give the postman a fright one time.

There are five light settings to choose from, with red promoting anti-ageing , blue designed to target acne and yellow for improving brightness. There’s also a near infrared option for pore refinement, while the final setting - purple - is a combination of red and blue, so works to combat blemishes while targeting signs of ageing. It’s also said to help reduce inflammation and improve blood circulation.

The latter has definitely been my go-to, with BeautyPro recommending it be used three times a week. Since starting using the mask in September, I’ve noticed a marked improvement in my skin texture and the frequency of my breakouts, with my skin generally feeling clearer and less clogged. That said, whenever I’ve accidentally taken a week off due to being out of the house a lot, I’ve also noticed a regression - like my skin is punishing me for not using the mask.

What I really like is that, on the Boots website, not only does it clearly lay out what each coloured light is for, but also makes suggestions on how often and how long to use it for - with settings for 10, 20 and 30 minutes - as well as what skincare ingredients pair well with it, such as vitamin C, or retinol.

Shoppers have also praised the device, commenting on how they can ‘definitely tell the difference’ in their complexion. One said: “My new obsession! I've loved adding this to my daily skincare routine, especially in the evenings when I'm winding down before bed. I'm using 20 minutes of blue light and 10 minutes of red light and can definitely tell the difference with blemishes!”

“Wow, I have heard so many mixed reviews from friends, but I have to say the LED mask is amazing,” said another: “So simple to use, my makeup the next day after using it for the first time went on really smoothly, and my skin looked plumped up.”

A third penned: “I've been using the BeautyPro LED Mask and I'm genuinely impressed with its results. My skin looks visibly refreshed, especially with the anti-ageing and brightening features. I love how versatile the settings are to cater to a variety of skin concerns. I also love pairing it with BeautyPro Vitamin serum for after-use; makes my face glow!”

However, it’s not all glowing reviews. Some users have noted concerns about the durability of the device, with one reviewer stating: “Battery deteriorated too quickly and it has stopped working completely after 8 months. Such a shame because I thought it was good for my skin.”

While I’ve not had any issues with the battery - in fact, I was really impressed with its longevity - I do find the eye shields a little uncomfortable as they leave a red mark on my nose as though I’ve been wearing glasses. The indent doesn’t last too long, but I do sometimes feel as though I need to plan when to use the mask so as I don’t leave the house with the marks.

There are some other options available, though, and our anti-ageing fanatic Tiffany Lo has tried most of them. Currentbody is the brand used by most of the celebrities we’ve seen, including Victoria Beckham and Halle Berry. It also starred on the hit Netflix series, Emily in Paris. While the Series 1 LED Mask remains at £299, you can save money in a bundle. The Special LED Kit gives you a Series 1 LED mask, a 30ml CurrentBody Skin Green Tea Serum and a pack of 5 CurrentBody Skin Hydrogel Face Mask - at £359 instead of £379.

Meanwhile, BondiBody's LED mask is currently down to £109, from £239, with TheraFace’s usually £549 shield reduced to £499. And since SharkBeauty's CryoGlow LED Mask is a new launch, there's no Black Friday discount, but if you buy it at Boots for £269.99. Or you can buy the BeautyPro Photon LED Light Therapy Facial Mask for under £130 here .
