With the American Express Platinum or Business Platinum, you have unlimited access to Centurion Lounge up to three hours before your flight departs (subject to space availability). To take advantage of this benefit, you need your card, a valid government-issued I.D. and a same-day boarding pass. There's a $50 fee per guest, however, if your child is 2 to 17 years old, the fee drops to $30 per person (children under 2 years old are free with proof of age).

You can qualify to bring two free guests to eligible Centurion Lounges, but it's a steep requirement. You're eligible for this perk only after spending $75,000 or more on your card in a calendar year. If you hit that threshold, you'll receive the complimentary guest benefit for the rest of that calendar year and the next calendar year with the benefit expiring on Jan. 31 the year after that. So if you qualified for this perk at any point in 2024, you'd have the benefit until Jan. 31, 2026. Terms apply.

You can also access Centurion Lounges with the Delta SkyMiles Reserve or Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business card. However, with these cards, the benefit is more restricted. You must be on a same-day flight with Delta (marketed or operated flight) and must have paid for the flight with a U.S.-issued American Express card.

The guest fees are the same as what you pay with either Platinum card, but they must also be flying on a same-day Delta flight (marketed or operated by Delta). To enter, you'll need a valid Delta Reserve or Delta Reserve Business card, a valid government-issued ID and a same-day boarding pass showing an eligible Delta flight. Terms apply.

What to expect at the SLC Centurion Lounge

Once this lounge is completed, it will cover nearly 16,000 square feet in Salt Lake City International Airport's new Concourse B. It will feature everything you need to relax or get a little work done before a flight, including fresh meals, specialty drinks and a dedicated wellness room.

American Express

Outdoor terrace

The outdoor terrace will have heaters to keep you warm on cold days and fans to cool you off when the temperature rises. It should be a nice place to unwind and take in views of the airfield and Wasatch Mountains.

A menu designed by a renowned Resy chef

Most Centurion Lounges feature locally inspired menus curated by award-winning chefs. While we don't know the specifics on the menu (or chef) right now, you will be able to indulge in a hot breakfast, fresh desserts, rotating main dishes and a variety of sides and salads.

Full coffee bar, co*cktail menu and wine list

This lounge will have a Blue Roast by American Express coffee bar with espresso drinks, cold brew, and seasonal specialty drinks. The co*cktail menu will feature locally inspired alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks designed by Centurion Lounge Mixologist, Jim Meehan. The wine list will be curated by Centurion Lounge Wine Director and sommelier, Anthony Giglio.

Bottom line

If everything goes according to schedule, a new American Express Centurion Lounge will open at Salt Lake City International Airport in 2025. This continues the trend of Amex growing its already extensive Centurion Lounge network.

New Centurion Lounges recently opened at Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City (MEX), Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport (ATL). Several more locations are scheduled to open in the coming years, including Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) in 2025 and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in 2026.
