Amateur Fighters Gear up for Redneck Brawl 5 in Cincinnati (2024)

In mid-February, Ohio is going to fight for the redneck recognition it deserves, literally.

Fists will fly and trash talk will sound as the Redneck Brawl 5 invades the Heritage Bank Center on Feb. 17. The event will see fighters from Ohio face Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan participants in ring-style street fighting. Fighters have already taken to social media to show pride for their territory.

Among a slew of “Git you sums,” inaudible grunts, random muscle flexing and spurts of shadowboxing, men and women of the Redneck Brawl universe are already claiming their spot at the top.

“You gonna show up a Buckeye but you gonna leave a black eye,” the Ax-Man from Kentucky says in a video shared on the Redneck Brawls’ Instagram. In the video the eastern-Kentucky contestant steps off of a four-wheeler after pulling up and revving his engine, dressed in Kentucky blue and damning his opponent from Ohio, Pork Rind.

The Waffle House Queen is coming in at 5 foot, 6 inches and 160 pounds, according to an Instagram post, where she posted a public warning to “snaggle-tooth bitches.” Sounds like they better protect those remaining teeth, because the Waffle House Queen means business. “I’m the Waffle House Queen and I will scatter, smother and f*cking cover a bitch on the floor,” the WHQ says with a clever nod to Waffle House’s famous hash brown styles.

Also featured on the Redneck Brawl’s Instagram is Hoodbilly from Ohio. In a promotional video he’s situated in front of the Heritage Bank Center dressed in Bengals merch, shouting, “You gonna get the Nasty Nati Knockout,” to his opponent, the Georgia Outlaw. Then, an ambulance happens to drive by with its siren blaring, the Hoodbilly points out the emergency vehicle and says, “Georgia Outlaw, that’s what you leaving in,” adding comically, “and the Falcons suck.”

Amateur fighters will compete in three, one-minute round fights with 16-ounce gloves and no headgear, according to the Redneck Brawl’s website. The event is sanctioned by the Ohio Athletic Commission. Signups to compete are live. No professionals are allowed in the ring and qualifications range from street fighting records to social media presence and grudge-holding status.

“The wildest trash-talking rednecks fight it out in the boxing ring to settle state rivalries and personal grudges,” Redneck Brawl’s website says of the event.

Comedians Catfish Cooley, Andrew Conn and Big Murph will provide commentary live at the event, which will also be available to watch via Pay-Per-View.

The Redneck Brawl 5: “Rednecks Invade Cincinnati” will feature 24 fights and a ring girl contest. Tickets are on sale at heritagebankcenter.com. Visit redneckbrawl.com for more information.
